Juxtaposing portraits of prisoners, urbanscapes, and poetry, photographer Deborah Luster created Tooth for an Eye: A Chorography of Violence in Orleans Parish and collaborated with writer C.D. Wright on the One Big Self: Prisoners of Louisiana exhibition project to create awareness for the realities of incarceration and street violence.  The images and words reveal an aspect of existence on the fringes of society which is far removed from the distorted and often romanticized notions projected by the media.

Reception for Deborah Luster and CD Wright to launch Tooth for an Eye: A Chorography of Violence in Orleans Parish, Glassell Gallery, Shaw Center for the Arts, Sunday, Nov 15, 6-8 p.m
